You have a couple of ways to start your Driver Genius:
Double-click on the shortcut icon. However, please make sure you are using an Administrator account before launching the software.
Click on the "Start Menu" -> "All Programs" -> “Driver Genius”.
You can also use the “Search” option.
The software recognises over 160,000 devices and the latest version of their drivers. It can be used on devices unfamiliar to you, as well. You can view additional details regarding a specific driver, click on the name of the driver for more information.
You have an overview of all previously updated drivers by clicking 'View update history' button.
To reinstall one, kindly click on the 'Reinstall' button, next to the name of the driver.
Click the 'Update All” button to download and install all of the available drivers simultaneously. You have to option to “Update” them individually as well. Please press “Update” next to the designated driver.
For an overview of the driver you are about to install, click on the “View driver update details” button. There you will see the name of the manufacturer, the date, as well as information regarding the version.
“More details about the driver update” will give you release notes, such as corrections, changes or enhancements made to the service or product the manufacturer provides.
Resume updating
If an update procedure failed due to a network problem or manual interference, you could resume from the point where Driver Genius left off.
Kindly click on “Update” to continue the procedure.
The default folder for driver downloads is as follows:
1. Windows 2000 & Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DriverGenius\Downloads
2. Windows Vista & Windows 7/8/8.1/10
C:\ProgramData\DriverGenius\Downloads
Hiding driver updates
If you do not want to update a specific driver, please click with the right mouse button and select “Hide this driver update”.
NOTE: The hidden driver won't be listed in the update driver list until a newer version becomes available.
You can revert this action by pressing the “Restore hidden driver updates” button in the lower right corner.
Scheduled driver update scan
Open the “Options” menu and proceed to “Schedule”.
You can activate the “Driver Genius Task Scheduler”. It will run when Windows loads automatically scan the driver database and start the update process at your convenience.
The software prompts you to update as soon as new driver updates are available.
The vast majority of drivers can be installed automatically and silently, after clicking the “Update All” button. However, some drivers are more particular and require special attention. An example is the “Realtek Cardreader” driver it cannot be installed silently by Driver Genius; you have to initiate the action manually. You will need to click “Install”, and the program handles the rest of the task automatically.
