You can import an entire website or individual pages.
Note: WebEasy may not be able to import all elements and attributes from the existing HTML files.
You open this dialog box by clicking Import in the New Document dialog box or by choosing Import > Import Website or Import > Import One Web Page from the WebEasy menu.
In the dialog box, locate and select the HTML file. For importing an entire website, select the main page of the website.
To import the site or page, click Open.
WebEasy may take a few minutes to convert the page(s), and it links all the images to the original files in the website’s folders.
If you’re importing one page,WebEasy adds the new page into the document after the current page.
Once you import it, you can use WebEasy to edit, improve, or maintain it.
Note: How well a website imports depends on the website’s design and coding. WebEasy cannot guarantee that it can import all websites correctly.
Importing a website involves converting existing HTML files to the format used by WebEasy. This procedure automatically identifies the basic HTML elements, such as links, text, and images, and creates a new website design that includes the pages and recognized items on each page.
In certain circumstances WebEasy might not be able to import all the elements and attributes from the existing HTML files. However, it should be able to import all the text and image elements and their positions.
To import a website:
1 Open the WebEasy menu and choose Import.
2 Choose Import Website.
3 Select the home page in the website. (This page usually has a standard filename such as default.html or index.html.)
4 Click Open.
Note: The conversion might take a while if the website has many pages or if you’re using a slower computer.
5 After the conversion process completes, review the pages in the document to see what, if anything, needs adjustment.
6 Save a copy of the entire document in a separate folder that has all the necessary images copied.
7 Then, save the site again in the working folder for editing.
To import an existing HTML page:
1 Open a document in the workspace.
2 Open the WebEasy menu and choose Import.
3 Choose Import One Web Page.
4 In the Import Website dialog box, locate and select the HTML file to import.
5 Click Open.
Note: The conversion might take a while if you’re using a slower computer.
6 After the conversion process completes, review the page in the document to see what, if anything, needs adjustment.
7 Save the document and any images to a separate folder as a backup copy before you begin editing your current document.
